Contact Sheet:
The word that I was given to work with was time, so I tried to incorporate it in with as many photos as possible: clocks, decaying fruit, flowers, sunlight, items with wear and tear, etc. I even took a few photos of the spice thyme for a play on words-type of thing.
Artist Statement:
I have always been fascinated with
the tactile quality of anything I see. So, my portfolio explores the textures
that one encounters on a daily basis in Florida. Most of my images show the
textures of subjects close up, sometimes so close that the objects become
abstracted. My portfolio is split into four categories of textures with nine
photos in each category: indoor, outdoors, food, and people. Indoor textures
include bedding, carpets, tiles, walls, and possessions. Outdoors textures
include building materials, plants, animals, rocks, and bodies of water. Food
textures include snack foods, spices, and cooked meals. People textures include
skin, nails, hair, and teeth.
