Artist Statement
For this final portfolio project I have decided to make a portfolio based on objects that don't belong. I got this inspiration from getting the theme "water" for one of my two hundred images. I went to a lake and began taking photos of the river. I found a small stream of water behind a neighboors house. I followed the stream into the deeper woods and photographed different angles. As I continued down the small stream, I found a random board between the two banks. It seemed so out of place that I became interested and questioned it's existance for a long time. I knew that it couldn't be functional because the board was only six inches wide and wasn't even stable or sturdy. I began to be interested in trying to find objects that don't belong in their respected enviornment. I knew of another piece that instantly fascinated me, there was a large ceramic sculture randomly nailed to a tree. If I were to create a porfolio following this idea I would like to use a few chapters. So far what I am thinking of is to have beautiful enviornments photographed both indoor and outdoor. Then following those images will be the same enviornments but with found or human influenced objects imposing on the space.
